Not a dead dwarf yet!

Sorry for the absolute lack of posts lately… had a quite busy time with real life (involving work and Metal Gear Solid 4, well, one can’t use up one’s whole free time for only one game ;] ), so the blog lost some of its position on my todo list. I haven’t stopped raiding though – we’ve managed to finally kill Malygos-25, did an absolutely easy 20-man Obsidian Sanctum raid for the achievement, and today I’ve spent almost all of my DKP on the [Valorous Bonescythe Helmet], and completing my 4-piece tier bonus. This makes me need only one major upgrade to my belt and three minor ones, but even without them, I’m ready for Ulduar when it comes.

The other fun thing this week was some of the bad people in the guild dragging me along to play some 3v3 Arenas. Well, I have to say that was quite fun, but confusing as hell at first. I’ve never done any Arenas at all, so I didn’t have the slightest idea what does the maps look like, what to kill, or even how the hell am I supposed to do damage as a Mutilate spec (never played that really as well, I’ve always liked Combat Swords more). We did fail a bit in the beginning, but finished the day with same number of wins and loses, so I guess that’s not that bad for a first time. At the very least, I’ve spent my otherwise useless badges on the PvP gear, so I wouldn’t look like a total noob there. :]

The other characters are doing quite fine as well. Sheven is slowly getting some decent gear from random 10-mans, though I might have to change his gems a bit when I get some free time. Running out of mana on longer fights isn’t fun at all. And Vean is slowly but steady leveling through Outlands – it’s going a bit slower now that I tend to skip playing on her completely during the week, so I could have the rested experience bonus, but otherwise it’s going pretty well. I’ve leveled her up to 63 and a half, almost finishing up the quests in Hellfire (I think I miss only two of them for the achievement) and a bit of Zangarmarsh.

I’ve also found an interesting thing – when I was first healing on Sheven, I used to change the screen resolution to 800×600, in order to reduce lag, and on Saithir I always was running with my laptop’s default resolution (1280×768 I believe) and with every video effect on the lowest setting. That proved a bit of the problem, because on the lowest spell detail setting you can’t see the poisons that Grobbulus is dropping… And even reducing the resolution wasn’t helping much if there were too many things happening anyway.

On Monday though I tried to redo the UI for a bit, so I’ve deleted every addon and accidentally resetted the video settings as well (letting the game to set it to what it thinks is best for my PC, at least I think it did that). OMG, when did this game become so pretty?!  I did some healing with the new settings and UI, and yesterday I did the Naxx-25 on Saithir. Works pretty well – probably could work a lot better, but I don’t expect too much more out of my quite old laptop. I only had some problems at Thaddius – I’m not sure if that was general lag or my PC doing the best that it could and failing a bit, but I had few seconds of lag between getting the new polarity debuff and seeing what it is. But at least now I can see all the enviromental hazards in which I shouldn’t stand. :)
